Where I’ve Been And Where I Want To Go is an installation that is completed by the artist performing the chronology of her own travel history. A collage installation pieces together images from a wide range of current and historical sources including everywhere Sara has been and hopes to travel. Images are lined up by their horizon line and circulate the space at eye-level. As a meditation on the possibilities of travel and the impact of place on our own biographies, Schnadt travels from location to location trailing a length of string behind her that becomes a growing plane across the space, a distillation of a travel history.

Previous versions included a commission for Goat Island performance art group as part of a symposium in Chicago marking the group's ending. Sara developed the original version of the work as a visualization of the group's 23-year touring history. A second version was created for a curatorial project of Balloon Contemporary during the NEXT art fair in Chicago.
